Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been achieved on hard courts

A comeback Daniil Medvedev won his initial championship for 882 days with success over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

The Russian, a former world number one, has experienced a difficult season, achieving just a single victory at the major tournaments and suffering a setback at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's varied form on the ATP Tour - and issues with his service game in specific - led to him dropping out of the world's top 10 and ultimately separating with long-term mentor his previous coach.

Currently training with Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has steadily improved in the past month - climaxing in a hard-fought three-set win over challenger Moutet.

This marks his first title after the Rome competition and first on a hardcourt from spring of that year.

Success also means the Russian has achieved twenty-one titles at 21 distinct competitions.

"For the first time I have attended a event with my children together, so to win a title is really nice," stated ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in honour of my second daughter her name, because the first title I got when my child Alisa was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had lost his last six championship matches, including in Halle in the past months.

Medvedev's counter-punching strategy and recurring emotional displays on the playing surface had caused commentators to question if his skill to play at the top level was over.

But the 29-year-old has made changes in recent weeks, making an effort to approach the net and perform aggressively, supported by an better serving game.

The champion fought back from a break down in the first set against the difficult Frenchman, taking four of the last five games to go ahead.

Both players exchanged break points in the following set before Moutet, attempting for his maiden professional victory, gained dominance to push for a final set.

The opponent defended four early-game chances in a tight deciding set before the Russian broke to fifteen to secure the win.

Appropriately, Medvedev secured the win with a point at the front of the court, with Moutet failing to handle a volley after over two and a half hours.
